I think I may have screwed up!!!

15 years 3 months ago
I have recently been contacted by a company. I believe their name is Leading Edge..... They contacted and said we are attempting to collect a debt, call will be recorded, blah blah blah. The first phone call was end of Sept. I freaked. I probably gave them anything they needed if they were fraud. They said they were trying to set up payment arrangements or settle for an old account. When i asked them what account they gave me the name of a bank. I said, "Yes I had an account with them." I also gave them my current bank info from top to bottom.

Unknown Debt Collector!

A private landlord filed a judgement against me in 2007 for rent he claims I owe. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. A certified letter was sent to my place of employment from a company called Atlas Judgement Recovery, informing me they had purchased the judgement from the landlord and basically threatening to collect using the full extent of the law. Never heard of this company. Don't know how they got my employment information. I was not employed at my present employer when I rented the home. The front desk receptionist accepted the letter without my knowledge.

Not a Question but an Answer: Unreasonable Terms

These donkeys have interest rates high enough--and they adjust it--to make a $0.10 loan ten years to pay off. Absolutely bottom of the barrel, and don't expect to negotiate with them either. They will refuse and make your interest rates higher and your credit limit lower. (Not that you'd use the card for anything more than to start your late season BBQ grill). It don't matter if you are a loyal customer or not--I've been one since 1999--they will screw you to the point where your screws are stripped bare, and there's no "unscrewing you".

Emerson & Douglas Assoc. SCAM ALERT

15 years 3 months ago
Emerson & Douglas Assoc. is a debt settlement company that was once under the name " KEYSTONE settlements." They have shifted different names for their company to remain under the radar from regulations and bad press. They are known for taking consumers money and not doing any work. They promise that they can settle your debt for less than what a consumer owes when in reality they set a consumer up to get sued, lose their assets, or even worse!

i have been told by a creditor that I cannot do debt management and negotiations by myself. I would have to have some type of agency on my behalf. does that carry water

Hmm...

Folks, Got a suspicion that we may have these illegal lenders dead to rights. It seems to me that contracts need a pen-to-paper signature or if it is an e-signature, a PIN code is usually included (I need to do one when I do my taxes) in order for it to be legally binding. So my question is this, if the only thing PDLs need is a simple name and date, wouldn't that make the contract invalid??
