Just Settled w Chase thanks to this forum

15 years 4 months ago
I want to thank all of you for posting and sharing. I have been working on settling several cards for over 6 months now. I have been reading and occassionally posting when I had something to add. Chase was my 3rd card. BOA was easiest - settled at 25% at around 110 days. Citi was a little trickier, but also came in at 25%. Chase was playing hardball. Even at almost 180 days, they were still talking about 50-60% settlement and wanting to do hardship program. I kept calling the number I had from their letters and, although very nice people, wouldn't budge below 50%.

Can collection agencies pull my credit?

15 years 4 months ago
Hi everyone, I just pulled my credit report and found that there was a recent hit from Capital Management Services. A little research shows me that this is a NY based collection agency with a bad reputation. After the death of my spouse, I was left with several large credit card bills which were in my spouse's name. I was unable to afford to pay them, and they are all labeled as chargeoffs.

What is the best way to pay off seriously delinquent student loans?

15 years 4 months ago
I haven't paid my student loan in about 2 years. I wasn't going to school for a couple of years, even though now I am taking a few classes. I know with some credit companies they will take less money if you pay with a large chunk of money. However, I know that student loans are government run, so I'm not sure, but I think that they wouldn't work that way and I would be forced to pay the total amount. I really just want to pay it off, but I was wondering if I should just pay it off in one lump sum, or start making payments now?

Finding List of Legal Lenders in States

Can anyone tell me where to access the database of licensed payday lenders in Indiana? I cannot find it.

Internet Payday Loans

15 years 4 months ago
Does anyone know if ABC Payday Loans and E-Payday Loans are illegal in Indiana? I had circumstances arise and I could not pay my last interest charges. I called a payday loan consolidation and they said to close the account, that that was the only way to stop them. I borrowed $350.00 from each and have paid back $350 to E-Payday Loans, but only $175.00 to ABC. I am receiving threats to press charges on me for fraud because I closed my checking account. They also stated they had started legal proceedings against me. All the money I have paid was interest charges.
