What happens when credit card banks charge off and your account is sent to the recovery department?

Citi sold my Exxon and Sears cards to Portfolio Recovery on 5/10/10. Portfolio and I have been talking through the Sears card since June: however, Portfolio claims to not have the Exxon Card and cannot find it in their system. Citi (Exxon) states that Portfolio has it. Portfolio has never attempted to contact me regarding that account (They call at least 2X a week for the Sears) If no one can find it, What should I do? It would be next to impossible for someone to prove the card since it was always used at the pump and no signature was ever required...

I have been researching this site for a few weeks now and realize that I have been way overpaying for PDLS. I have used them in the past - but in the last year have had real issues coming back from unemployment and trying to get caught up. These are what I currently have. Paycheck Today says I owe 65 - but I have paid all principal and then some. Discount Advance just took this out for 480 - saying I owe 620. I have taken out a lot of advance with them in the past (at least 8) though. National Payday I just took out this loan for 500 so I haven't paid any back on this.

I have been served with a Citation to comply with demand contained in petition. The petition just states that I applied for a Mastercard and am indebted for an amount plus interest and attorney's fees were stated at that time the account was opened. I have to file with the court within 15 days but don't know what I need to file. I have answered interrogatories for the company I work for but this isn't asking questions. Not sure if I need an attorney or what to do.
