I have paid off a credit card debt I had with Midland Credit, I paid an attorney at Esknos and Adler, which was bought out by Mann Bracken, both companies are now out of business, I have been unable to find out from the sheriffs department where my money has been sent, I have paid over $2,700 on a $300.00 credit card. I tried calling the Attorney's office and was placed on hold and no one ever came back on the line. How can I make sure this debt is closed with Midland Credit? The debt was not listed on any of my credit reports.

Hello, I am located in the state of Florida. I went and got a cash advance loan from a storefront lender and the check ended up bouncing. I informed the lender in writting that I'm having trouble with my bank account and will pay them back as soon as I can. Today I got a call from someone with a local area code that left an 866 number for the callback, claiming that I would be summoned to court for check fraud unless I called back to settle out of court with the lender.
