This firm has hundereds of law suits going in san bernardino county. It seems that is how they make there money. They served me and i answerd back so i don't get no default judgment. Looks like the court set me up with a case management conference. Where i guess we are suppose to talk about what we could work out. So does anyone know if faced in person not over the phone if they do work things out fairly or not? ... Please someone advise me of what im in for with this collection agency/attorney. How to choose a student loan

15 years 8 months ago
After reading the horror stories on how fast student loans can inflate with interests and charges I am little apprehensive about taking out a student loan. I want to attain a med school and sure that I would pass. However, the cost of attaining the school is very high. Can anyone guide me in picking up a student loan lender? What are the criteria of choosing the best student loan?

Has anyone here settled outside the court?

15 years 8 months ago
I have been sued by a law firm over a credit card debt. I accept I owe the debt and trying to avoid being at the court. In couple of posts I have read about outside the court settlement but have also read the warning about losing the battle. I couldn't find any clear direction on how to proceed with an outside the court settlement negotiation. Can anyone help me in this regard? Is it a good idea to negotiate a settlement? Has anyone won in an outside the court settlement? Thanks in advance. Lydia

Do you owe IRS on the settled debt amount?

15 years 8 months ago
I am trying to settle some of my bills with my creditors. However, I was told by a friend that I would owe to the IRS for the amount saved in the settlement. Is it so? I am already broke and can't afford to owe taxes. I am trying hard to save as much as possible on my credit card bills so that I can pay down my student loan. If I am being taxed by IRS, I wouldn't be able to pay my other loans. Any suggestions.
