Collection companies

15 years 10 months ago
We are going through the settlement process and making good headway, however we get letters in the mail from companies saying that they have been hired or requested to collect the debt for XYZ company. To me this is different than selling the account to a collection agency. Am I off in this or what? FYI so far we have settled five cards and are finished paying four of them, our best one yet was US Bank for 20.69% on a 11,500 card. woohoo :)

Debt Consolidation - options??

HELP! Have a large amount of debt ($45,000) and trying to consolidate it to lower monthly payments. Own our home and have tried refi but the appraisal leaves us with only about 82-83% equity in the house. Sure we could refi the mortgage but it only reduces the mortg. payment by about $150 and still leaves us paying $1,450/mo. on credit cards. We desperately wish to reduce that $1,450/mo! Have looked into personal loans but most are 5 year terms and still keeps the payment high for us.

Bad Advice?

15 years 10 months ago
Do you guys think I been giving bad advice? Someone sent me a message on my myspace all upset and telling me I am a horrible person that she did what I suggested and that the CA took her to court and took more then 10000+ over the debt and that it was all my fault....do you think this is just another attack on me? doesn't 10000 sound a little steep for fees? im really upset and now wonder if I am giving good advice or not :(

Need some honest advice

I am in a bit of trouble here. I work but do not make much money. My main issue is student loans, as Sallie Mae for 4 months stopped sending me bills so my account is past due (though I have started payments again!) My loans in total are just over $10,000 In addition I have 2 credit card accounts. They are both around 3,000. So approximately $6,000 in Credit card debt. So between 16,000 and 17,000 in debts in all. That is a really scary thought for me. I just graduated college a year ago and this is not something to be up against right away.

I need to know if National Enterprise Systems has license to work in California. They sent me back all the papers I have requested (supposedly), since I don’t know which documents they are supposed to send me. They are requesting that I pay the total of $3300 in full. This is a school loan I co-signed for my son. There is no way I can pay this amount in full and they have repeatedly refused to negotiate with me. Please help me as soon as possible since I have 30 days to respond to the documents they have sent me.
