After defaulting (following closure of my bank account) and then entering into a payment agreement with VIP Loan Shop, I learned that they were illegal in my state of residence. Because I had overpaid, but still (according to them) owed additional money I sent them a letter based upon a sample letter I found on this site. In the letter I stated that I had overpaid (I did not ask for a refund) and asked that my account be removed from collections, marked paid in full and CLOSED.

This is what Paycheck Today has emailed me today: We are not required to have a license as we are a Canadian Tribal entity not subject to "any" state regulation. The best we can offer is $300 settlement paid by 4/9/2010. They are talking about the current second payday loan. They already had debited 90 from a 300 loan. However like I stated earlier I asked for a refund from having to pay $975 on 300 that was way over triple of the principal amount. They still have not sent me a address as of yet. What do you think.

Good afternoon, everyone. I don't know if this is the norm but I really need some help. I went to court in 11/2009 to respond to judgment placed with court. Got there, was advised by an attorney in a hallway of the court not before a judge that I could settle and to call this 800#. Because of health reasons, I was unable to respond until 12/2009 and I sent a certified letter to Chapin & Gonet advising them that I was attempting to work out the details with State Farm Insurance Company. Was not made aware that I was to go back to court in 1/2010 to follow up.

I have been told by a settlement mgr that I will be sued. How can I avoid this? They refuse to settle with me

I just receive an e-mail from OCI of Georgia to call Amy Burns at (404) 656-4103 at the Attorney General Office since I had 2 Internet pdl's from Paycheck Today and Great Sky Cash even though payday loans are illegal in Georgia. However I also was told to have the address for the Payday Loans and I can't find them . Does anybody have the address for Paycheck Today, or Great Sky Cash. If I don't get them do I still need to call and if so what do I say.?

OK, so first on my list was loanpoint usa, I only owe them 60.00 principal because I have paid only interst etc. etc. I remember someone saying they are like in Aruba, is this the number that is calling me? 01191312 ? Hi, thanks for this forum. I have high debt but have most always paid my bills (mostly minimums) on time. A friend of mine has generously offered to pay for settling my debts, say for 50% or less. Can I as a historically on-time payer just call up the cc company and say "I can settle this right now for 50%, will you take it?" Thanks all very much for your perspective and care.

My husband and I decided in November 2009 to try to go through a debt settlement program with Freedom Debt Relief. I should have checked the BBB beforehand! We have Chase - 8500 Citi - 8500 Citi 14000 No payments have been made since November, even though we pay FDR monthly. They took hefty fees the first 3 months, so things have been slow going.
