I've come across threads where accounts comprising of mostly balance transfers and cash advances cannot be settled, is this true?
I've been juggling my debt for a number of years and finally realized that I will never get out of debt by making minimum payments. I've used balance transfers or those promotional checks to pay off other cards or bills. All my accounts are slowly being reduced as I make the min pmt and other accounts closed, so I clearly see no way of continuing what I have been doing in the past.
Thanks in advance
Ok this number started calling my cell several months ago asking for Nicholas. I am not Nicholas and I dont even know a Nicholas. I told them so and asked them to please stop calling me. I was nice at first! They continued to call me and I got rude. I entered their number into the do not call registry but still received calls. All of a sudden the calls stopped. Now several months down the road the calls have started up again! I have received 15 calls from these people today! How do I make it stop? Here is the number that keeps calling me! 800-684-8429
first off, this looks to be the first place that i've found that actually has people that communicate with each other about debt problems on a daily basis!
now down to why im here. please bare with me as this might be long and drawn out.
i have about $20k in CC debit with 5 different companies (see bottom for amounts). i am going to be doing a DIY debt settlement but needed to get some clarity on things first.
also i am current on all of my accounts as of today and know that they have to be delinquent for some time. i am also aware that in no way do these CC companies have to settle!
1.
Do you always have to request Debt Validation through a certified letter? What if you speak to the collector (on a recorded call) and request the validation verbally?
I had a collection agency call me (they didn't tell me they were a collection agency or give me the miranda). They girl just bascially said "this is regarding a bally's account and they want to know if you want to settle out of court?"
I told her I would need information and validation on the debt because I would need to check it with my personal records.
I got a call from 866-964-8194, asking to call back 877-658-6929. Of course I googled these numbers and saw tons of reports from people about their practices...i saw several names, including Oasis Financial
Anyway i called in, they gave me a case number and transferred me to some guy who informed that i was going to be charged with check something other and a case of fraud...that i took federal funds from a bank account and transferred them to a Fleet bank ( never had a Fleet bank account) and that there was talk of getting Homeland Security involved (HA!).
Hey all, I was hoping anyone who has been sued can give me a scenerio on how it happened. (ex: how far behind were you, did you take there calls regularly, was it the original creditor or the CA, Please anyone and everyone share your story!!!
