Finally, I was able to pay off all my payday loans. My question is should I now close my checking account and open another one? No one has tried to charge me for anything they shouldn't, I'm just worried if they do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just got off the phone with Chase. First said they could not go lower than 60% on $12,000 debt (for one card). I offered 30%. Lady said probably not but she would check. Came back on the line said good news and bad. They would take 30% but I had to include our other account (19000). So settlement for $9472 75 days out. Know I have two days to to accept the offer and come up with the money payable over 93 days! I have 1/2 of it going after the other 1/2 in the morning. Two down two to go!!!! Lady was polite and couldn't believe they made that offer.

State of IL, Cook County I answered a summons and my court date was today. I wish I knew what I was doing or could afford a lawyer because I believe the plaintiff messed up. When they called my name, the collection attorney said they didnt have the file on my case. The judge looked at me and after a few seconds of silence said okay do you deny the debt or the debt amount? I said yes and she set a trial date.

My wife recently got a warrant of debt from Capital One Bank to appear Richmond county court but we live in Prince William County. She wrote letter to the judge to change the venue of the trial with the reason that credit card was not opened in that county and that county is out of our residential jurisdiction. Also she can not drive that far with a little baby. Is it a valid reason to transfer the case? Or she should write any other reason. She mailed it just by First class mail. I posted a message earlier about going to trial for a past debt. The collection agency is a JBD, (according to some forum users) Arrow Financial, and their attorney is Machols and Johannes. The law firm served me (actually my fiance who happended to open the door, I never saw the person) with a summons and complaint in which I filed a response (also including a request to provide proof they have the right to collect on this debt; nothing has been sent). They asked for a continuance the day of court for the summons and complaint.

But I was wondering are these 30-40% you are talking about the total debt with all late fees, penelties, etc, etc. Or is it the balance when the debt became late.
