BofA settlement letter

OK, so I've been getting calls from BofA probably 2-3 times a month and their settlements have been getting better. It started with about 50%, then to 45%, then to 40%. Everything has been verbal so far, but today I get a MAILED LETTER with a settlement offer of 35%. It's still too much for me so I don't know if I should hold out more. I'm about 160 days delinquent. My concern is that since it is written, is this the final offer by BofA? Or will they send another letter with a better offer? The letter has an offer expiration date within a week. Please advise with any experiences.....

Wage Garnishment

I currently have a student loan under wage garnishment in Texas where the rehab program no longer exists. I've been trying to find a way out of the garnishment so I can consolidate and get back to good stand. I currently don't have a financial hardship, and have been making payments in addition to the garnishment for the past 5 or so months. But at this rate, it will still be roughly 8-10 years before I could pay them off. Right now, it looks as though I may be getting layed off in the next month or so.

Academy Collection Services

About three weeks ago, I began to get calls from multiple phone numbers on my cell phone. I answered the first one, and it was an automated voice asking me to "please hold for the next available representative". Therefore, I hung up. I Googled the number, and it came up as Academy Collection Services. Since the initial calls, I have received multiple calls from them, each from a different number. After the first call, I ran my credit report from 2 of the credit agencies. Both confirmed what I already knew - that I have NO accounts past due.

Received a summons - what happens next

I recently received a summons for a credit card that i owe $20K on. I know that I need to answer the summons, my question is, what happens next? Do I need to appear on my respond date or just have to submit my reponse. What happens after I submit my response.

Midland funding LLC -- pain in the butt

i received a summon from them last week , cohen and slamowitz is their attorney. they bought the debt from citibank and trying to get the money from me. in the mean time, they sent me settlement letters to settle my debt for more than what they stated on the summon, offer me 50% discount on the original debt, and also offer me to pay the debt off while i get my tax refund.. i answered the summon last week and arranged a court date on May. i ignored all of their mails. today i received another law firm Rubin & Rothman, representing Midland funding.

Motion to vacate a judgement

A judgement has been entered against me because I did not know that I had 30 days to reply to the court when the complaint was filed against me. At this point it would cost me more to get a lawyer and fight this. The plaintiff also has filed a lien against me. If I settle with them and have them file to vacate the judgement with prejudice, is this still going to have an adverse effect on my credit?

What's "Legal Talk-off"?

I've been browsing the job openings in my area and I've been seeing openings for debt collectors with strong "legal talk-off" experience. I'm assuming that means they're looking for someone who is pretty good at making a debtor believe they're on the "most wanted" list. Am I close?
