what can i do to end wage garnishment. im a single mom of 2. my wages began being garnished when i was 7 months pregnant and had gestational diabetes. my son's father left me at the time and emotionally i fell in a deep depression. I was truly unable to address any financial matters. this was 2008. Currently I'm in a far more better mental state and am trying desperately to regain what I lost. I was thinking of getting help from SLRO but I have been told they are a rip off and I could do it myself much cheaper. Please give me advice on the following options: SLRO: Are they really rip offs?

I am currently repairing my credit. I have paid down 2 credit cards below 50% of credit limit. I did that in mid January. The credit card companies said that they reported my new balances on 1/31/10. Today I ran my scores through myFICO. They have my credit card balances as of 12/2009. How or when does FICO or Transunion/Equifax/Exper. take these new balances into consideration and is there a way to press the issue with them? Any info is greatly appreciated.

We all need to start acting like creditors. I just spoke with a debt collector from M.R.S. Associates, LLC. I walked her through how a credit card is nothing more than potential debt until it is used. Once it is used a receivable arises from such use. I then explained that the receivable is sold with a whole bunch of other receivables for the exact value of the receivable. For example, a $5000 balance on a credit card account is sold by the issuing bank for $5000.

I live in CA. My sister has a lot of debt. Tyler Morgan started calling my mother's house months ago leaving messages alluding to a lawsuit ("case" was the word they'd use). My mother disconnected the land line. Yesterday I got a call on my personal cell phone from a number I didn't recognize. They left a voice mail and when I listened to it, it was a rep from this Tyler Morgan looking for my sister! This is my cell phone in my name and my sister has never had a line through my account so I am wondering how the heck they got my number. Anyhow, is it legal for them to contact me?

Hi! I have read a lot of posts on this forum and found a lot of valuable information about how to manage and get out of debt. But I really need some advice on my problem which is really haunting me badly. I got out of college around 2006 and hasn't had a stable job since. I didn't handle my loan situation correctly and now I have a federal loan in default! Earlier this week I received a call from West Asset Management about the money that I owe.

I need to contact them and I can't find valid contact information anywhere. The number that they gave my bank for the ACH is 800-806-9971. When I call I get a message that says this call is not allowed from my calling area. Thanks for your help.

I have a 2 year old judgement (Original Debtor: Citi)that was put against me, due to the Mailbox Etc person signing for my documents, and myself not checking that mailbox for about 3 months and not responding or showing up for my court hearing. Fast forward to now as I am trying to fix my credit report, etc. I have not heard anything from the company with the judgement against me (Law Office). Nothing else had been entered into the Court Docket, and I have not received any new Debt Collection Notices from new CA's or the original. Any ideas of my next step? Thanks in advance.
