Perhaps when filing complaints with AGs, it may not hurt to look up the Consumer Protection Units/Divisions of the Department of Justice in the states where the PDLs are located (if they are based in the US). I got a letter today from the State of Delaware Dept of Justice Consumer Protection Unit, whom my original correspondence to the AG was forwarded to, regarding one of my PDLs. Attached was a copy of letter from the PDL's attorney, stating that the PDL is ceasing to "engage in any transactions in the state of Delaware and has canceled the transaction involving the referenced."

I am not sure if anyone encountered this poster yet.. s/he worked on both legit and non-legit companies. that is fine, we have great advice from members on both sides. but i am seeing his advice is often a lot of finger-pointing, etc. some i really do think is inaccurate (the state laws thread in the members only foroum in particular). i welcomed him in one thread but than read more of it, i just want everyone to be respected on here. let's keep an eye on him, i guess?

portfolio recovery is on my credit report. They wouldn't send anyting in writing so they didnt' get paid. Debt SOL is gone anyway, but was going to do the right thing. Anyway, it is supposed to come of my credit report in 2011. Can they keep it on there longer or will it definately come off? They call me almost daily, but I know all their numbers so I don't answer the phone. I just wanted to wait it out, but am afraid it will never go away even in 2011 when its supposed to. Can anyone answer this ? thanks!

Does anyone have experience working out an extended, extended payment plan with these companies? I'm in Maryland, so I think they're legal as CSOs. These are my last two loans, and they are big ($1800 Cash Net USA and $1425 Check n Go). I have had luck in the past with requesting an EPP from Cash Net USA, but it's been for 4 payments, and I need really need more time this time around -- trying to catch up on everything else that has fallen behind because of these loans. I was wondering if anyone has had success working with these companies?

I have recently pulled out my annual credit reports and I've got three different ratings with the three CBs. It has made me wonder since they all are showing same information regarding my finances. Wouldn't they be same? Also, how these differences in scores would affect my prospects of getting credit in the future?

I am about to start the settlement process; I have two Chase CCs and one small BofA CC. I am thinking about paying off the BofA card (or continue with monthly payments) and defaulting on the two Chase CCs in hopes of being able to settle them for a lump sum settlement of 35%. Can anyone tell me if this sounds like the best way to handle things. I really want to keep the BofA CC current (I have a cking acct with BofA and am concerned the CC company will have access to view/access my cking acct).

Hi. I'm a little confused about something I read on here and would appreciate some clarification. I thought I read that it is illegal for a original creditor to show a charge-off on your credit report once they have sold the debt to a collection agency. Is this true? The reason I ask is I have been going through my credit reports and trying to repair the damage I've done. Speficially, I have a Chase credit card account for 11K that went unpaid and was charged off. My fault. It was sold to Unifund whom I have now paid in full.
