Ok--help please---I have stop ordered payments to Magnum Cash Adv. and Northway Financial. Today, Magnum offered me a settlement of still over 900 more than the principal. They sent me an email saying that I had 5 days until a national collection firm gets the account and failure to deal with them will result in the 3 credit agencies being notified and my credit ruined. Also, the words legal measures was mentioned. When I told the rep. from collections dept. that their company is illegal in TX and not even in the USA--he told me they are in the Virgin Isles, and have a base in Delaware.

I filed bankruptcy to get rid of all my debt. Can you believe that some collector called 1st Integral Recovery Services called me regarding my payday loan with the above firm. When I informed "Mr Smith" that I had filed and not to call me anymore.....he advised me that this debt is not dischargeable in bankruptcy. He asked me if I read my contract. Has anyone else ever heard of anything so ridiculous? I told him that it is included in the bankruptcy, gave him my case number and told him not to call me anymore.

i didnt list it, and i checked my credit report, and work number is not listed, no work info is listed. any other way they would be able to find my work phone?

Hi Everyone- I'm excited that I was able to settle 2 of my 3 Chase accounts yesterday and I got faxed settlement letters for both today. I just want to make sure that the verbage used won't screw me over. It says "we will report your account to the national credit bureaus as "settled" with no balance due. Is that good enough to ensure that they don't sell off the remaining balance to a third party collector? Any input is appreciated- thanks!
