My wife and I are in over our head and need advice in getting help. My wife lost here job and exhausted unemployment benefits, my pay has been cut due to my companies poor performance in this economy. We have over 140,000 in unsecured credit card debt which we have fallen behind on. There is no equity in our house as the mortgage is near the value of the house/property. We have come up with a little bit of cash and would like to try and settle with some of the credit card co's. I'm scared to do this on my own !! Looking for help.

I have agreed to a 30% settlement on my Bank of America account. The rep said I have to pay $600 by the 24th of Sept. to get this deal, and they will subtract the $600 from the total settlement offer. If I don't the offer will be void. I can pay the whole settlement offer on Oct.1 because I am borrowing the money, but will not have the $600 by Sept. 24. My question is, if I take the deal and don't make the Sept. 24 payment and it becomes void, do you think they would still give me the same deal if I offered the full amount on Oct 1?

Do these services cost me anything?

3 years ago my husband died, just as our dughter was about to be married. I put her wedding and repairs on the car and house on my cc. Now,I owe 42000 in cc. My house is worth 1/2 of what I owe. I had a GREAT FICA, 730 , until all this financial disasters with the banks. Providain went under Washington Mutual raised the interest rate from 9.9 to 14 then Chase got it and closed the account after raising the rate to 30%. After that I got rates raised across the board on all my cc. Now I pay $680 on month just in interest.

I just recently decided to start settling my own debts (as opposed to hiring a company). Ironically GE Money Bank sent me an e-mail today offering to settle my debt of $7058 for $3176, 45%! I am thrilled, but I am wondering if they are proposing the settlement with no contact from me, should I try to negotiate a lower amount? Stretch payments over a few months? Any other suggestions? I have a mountain of debt (about $100K) and I need to start somehwere!!!

Well this is getting good. I went with a consolidation company, Destination debt solutions, but there's one payday loan company, DJR group (online pdl), refusing to cooperate with them and are now threatening to take me to court. I got a phone call from 716-362-0268 they said they were some "blah blah blah" associates, basically trying to tell me that they're a law firm and that they bought the debt from DJR group and that if I don't pay $650 (for a $200 payday loan that I've already paid $300 for) that they will take me to court for fraud, and then proceeded to tell me how big of a scam DDS

Two more down! yay!!!!! They were unable to validate with in the 30 days and I got a letter on day 45 agreeing to delete!!!! As for PFD, I have some medical accounts for a total of $1789 and I spoke with an account manager at Edward Sloan (who are actually decent collectors and followed my validation request all the way to the letter) and I gave her my amount for settlement-$600, she countered with $750, I countered $625 and they are writting up the papers today. (because I refused to make a payment with out the pay for delete in writing of course).

Well... most of the bugs seem to be out (I think?).... I've got 1 problem and 1 request. 1) The "last login" is about 7 days behind. Today is 9/9 and it says last visited 9/1/09 (I was here 9/8). Someone else posted about this, I think.

ok so i recently got behind on bills due to medical reasons and my fiance loseing her job, my problem now is i had to default on a pdl. they tried putting the check thru but it bounced. no they are calling and threatining me at home and work. how do i stop them from calling my work, i cant afford to lose my job. i cant pay them now and the wont take payments what should i do. buckeye checksmat store front $400 ive paid back well over $400 as ive had this loan for about 6 months with all the rollovers. arizona
