I received a dunning letter in the mail about a week ago from Mapother & Mapother P.S.C. in KY. I've checked my credit report and this firm hasn't hit my credit report, but Brachfeld & Assoc. did. Are they connected? I'm assuming a debt validation letter needs to be sent, but I've never sent one before. Any info on getting one together would be helpful. Statute of limitations in my state is five years and the account they're trying to collect on was last paid on in June/July, 2006. My husband is unemployed currently and is our only source of income.

What are the rules regarding sening a validation letter to a debt collection agency? I believ it has been some time since my first notification from the collection agency, but I was not fully aware of the rules regarding validation letters. Will the debt collection agency be able to deny my request for validation if its been a significant amount of time since the first notice was sent? How does it all work?

My Ch 7 bankruptcy was discharged about a year ago. Regarding my car, I did not sign the reaffirmation agreement. I voluntarily gave up the car to the bank. Since then, the bank keeps asking me to pay off the car loan. Should I have to do this? I thought I didn't owe anything on the car now?

i got behind on a credit card they took me to court for a wage garnishment and won then the court told me i have untill june 12 to file an appeal i did not show up for court but now i wish to file an appeal can anyone help me with reasons to overturn the judgement against me from capital one for $1225.42 any help would be greatly appreciated :D

This Florida First Financial Group started calling my daughter this week asking her for payment on a car accident that she had in 2004. We are in Florida. Her car was totalled, and she didn't have insurance and now the wrecker is charging her over $900 and is having this bully company calling her to make her pay. The reason that she didn't have insurance at the time is because she had lost her job and couldn't afford insurance. Her wreck was very unfortunate but she was not badly hurt. right after that she got pregnant and has a beautiful 4 year old girl. They both live with me now.

what do i do now? i haven't received a response. do i need to resubmit before 30 days? i sent certified letters but only received one notice back. do these companies not pick them up and wait 30 days?

Hello: I have a credit card that I got back in my college days (10 years ago) as a joint account with my folks. Since then I have been the only user of the account, and my parents have moved across the country. The bills only come to me, and I have been paying them up til now. My parents probably don't even remember having this card. Unfortunately due to job loss and stupid decisions on my part, I've defaulted to the tune of about $10,000. I am about 140 days overdue. The weird thing is that the CC has not called my parents, nor do they even seem to plan to.
