I got laid off 4 months ago and still unemployed. Job Market is tough in this economy. I haven't paid any of credit cards the past 4 months since all of my unemployment checks have been going to living expenses. My house has been in short sale status the past 8 months with no luck, and now the bank is starting the foreclosure process. I got a tax refund and directly contacted all of my credit card companies and informed them of my situation.

I have three credit cards that will be SOL in five months. What's the chance that the collectors will sue me or give me a 1099c?

I am new to the forum and am considering Debt Free Associates, but they use Global Client Solutions and Rocky Mountain Bank and Trust which have a lot of negative consumer complaints. Does anyone know of a reputable company? I have a lot of credit card debt over 100K, and am no longer sleeping because of financial anxiety. I am feeling pretty hopeless at this point and totally overwhelmed. This month will be the first month I miss my payments. I have tried to settle with Chase, but they offered me 85% and I'm guessing that's because I haven't been delinquent in 13 years.
