I was recently surprised by my last paycheck. I had a wage attachment for a debt owed to my previous landlord. True, I did know I owed them, but I was totally unaware of garnishment proceedings. So therefore I was unable to contest or even present to the court the reasons for me not being able to pay the debt. Is there anything that I can do since I was not served properly. The landlord, KNEW I no longer stayed at the same residence, but of course did know where I worked. So why was I not served at least at work.

If a credit card that I defaulted on and they were granted a judgment against me, could they take our house or any personal property like furniture, electronics, etc.? My husband is on the title also and owns most of these and had no knowledge of these debts. Help!

Hi All, unfortunatelly I found myself in situation were I either have to settle my CC account with several different creditors or file for BK ch.13 as I'm able to negotiate sattlements with most if not all I'm concern if letters they are sending me are good enough as far wording or they trying to trick me?

i went to school for a 3 semesters and then got married and moved away for a few months. when i came back i enrolled back in school until i found out my last semester of school was not paid for. my mother said that she paid for it and i trusted her to do my finances for school(first mistake) i started paying for that so i could continue in school the next semester. then i found out that my mother was taking out student loans in my name without my knowledge.

Do secured cards report your credit limit? If you deposit 1000 will this report as your limit to raise your debt-to-credit limit? Also, has anyone settled with BOA then been approved for a secured card?

Hello All: In that "offer" from JD Enterprise and Financial Services, the last line reads: JD Enterprise trade-line will be deleted from your Experian Credit Report. So my question is, what is meant by a "trade-line"? And also, I have only checked my Experian report. Is it possible that this only appears on that report, or is this something uniform (the credit report) and it would show on all three? I ask because this is from a debt *way* past the SOL. And I am not happy about it being on there.

I have been told this by several people and wonder if anyone can verify it for me. I was told as long as you make a payment of some kind each month to a credit card company, they can't do anything to you like send you to a collection agency. Is this true?
