17 years 2 months ago
Hi, new here wish I didn't have to turn here but here I am a 30 year girl from KY. Like most people I'm about to lose my job. I'm up to date on all my CC but will not be able to make payments once I lost my job. I own 23,000 Capital One installment loan at $700 a month, 16,000 to Universal card, 6,000 to Discover, and 3,000 to BofA. I thought I could file chap. 7 bankruptcy after I was layed off for a couple of months but found out today that my husband makes too much money and with me drawing unemployment we could not file.

A payday loan place is threating me with jail HELP PLEASE

17 years 2 months ago
Ok so i got a payday loan from a place in Mississippi. It was the type of loan where you post date a check for 2 weeks then come pay it back. Well I had some financial issues happen and couldn't pay it back. Then my bank closed my account because off all the overdraft fees I was incurring. They kept depositing the check and I was getting further and further behind because of it. The next thing I know, I am getting calls with them telling me I am going to jail. I really don't want to go to jail. Is that even possible?? I am just really really confused.

Cancel cards or accept interest rate increase

17 years 2 months ago
I currently have 2 credit cards that have sent me letters stating that they will be raising my APR. They were form letters and not addressed to me personnally, just to "cardholder". This makes me think they are doing this to all because of the economic times. They said in the letter that I have the right to refuse the APR raise but if I do, my account will be closed. Does any one have any thoughts on which may be the better option? Thanks

Do CA's have to send dunning letter if no inital contact

17 years 2 months ago
If a CA calls you but never actually speaks to you then there has been no initial contact. I'm guessing most CA's will send a dunning letter at some point even if you never answer the phone. But I was just curious if they are required to ever send you something in writing if there is never initial contact? In other words can a CA just keep calling and calling and leave messages or not but never send a written notice if they have never talked to you directly?

URGENT ADVICE NEEDED

17 years 2 months ago
I'm working to get out from under 2 illegal payday loans. There is one that I do owe principle on but, can't pay it all at this time. I did get a arbitration letter from some company today regarding this. .....I also got a phone message today from some guy in India saying that if I didn't call them back, they would call my references. I can't have this happen!!! One of them is very ill and I can't have that happen. So, I owe them $230 of principle. Will they work with me at all on this or are they going to charge me more?

Suttell & Associates -- Assistance Requested

17 years 2 months ago
My husband was served papers by Suttell in Oct of last year on a credit card he had with Capital One before we were married. Long story short: A default judgement has already been awarded. Received a letter a few days ago (still going to our old address even though I changed it with Suttell several times) saying we need to declare what they can't take. The only money we have coming in at the moment is Social Security which I've already been informed they cannot take.

credit card debt settlement

17 years 2 months ago
I am considering using a debt settlement company for my credit card. The interest rate has incrementally crept up to 23.95% which means many more years of payment, mainly interest. The balance is $13,600. If I use this route, does this mean that I will no longer be able to have a credit card? Thanks.

Do I need to hire a company?

17 years 2 months ago
Do I need to hire a debt settlement company or can I settle it myself with credit card companies? Our credit card comapies are American Express, Chase, Bank of America, Discover, and Universal Bank. Any suggestions? We are current, but $125,000.00 in credit card debt and are not getting anywhere. We tried calling Amex to lower our interest rate and they said no because we have has 1 late payment (by 2 days) in the past 12 months! Our interest rates are crazy 27.99-29.99% which is why we cannot get anywhere with this.
