As of 1/26, I am officially in PDL default. I contacted Destination Debt Solutions and while the montly payment (around 500.00 for 12 months) is a lot less than the $1100 i was spending in pdl fees, it still amounts to a little $2,000.00 more than my total debt. Has anyone else done this? Is is worth it?

We had over $80,000 in debt and were able to settle with Bank of America and Chase on almost $70k. We have 11,000 left on a Citicard. We are almost 60 days past due and said that they would only settle if we had a terminal illness or permanent disability. Has anyone been able to sucessfully settle with them? I would like to get this resolved so we can move on with our lives, but since my credit is already shot, I have no problem just waiting them out if they will eventually settle. We can settle for 30 to 40 percent of the principal balance. Should we involve a debt settlement company?

Ok, Here is my problem is a nutshell..... My husband lost his job in May up until that point we had great credit and handled it well. We had a nice income. He was out of work for 6 months and we racked up $30,000 on B of A card and cant make the payments. I am 2 payments behind on one and ok on the other one. I called B of A and tried to see what I could do, they want to lower my intrest and payment for 5 years to help, but we still cant make that payments as our income is half of what it use to be now. We cashed out some stock and have about $9,000 and was hoping to settle.

Has anyone used laches in an affirmative defense? The statute of limitations on my cc debt was due to expire 7 days after the the complaint was filed. It is difficult for me to track down accurate information about this debt being it was so long ago.

I have payday loans out and I want to get them all taken care of but the interest payments alone are KILLING me. I am thinking of going to PDLAssistance but after reading a lot of threads on here it looks like I would be able to do it myself. Plus I went on the BBB website and they have been given an "F". How do I settle with these companies myself? What do I tell them? I was also thinking about calling to ask them to just send them to collections and I can make payment arrangements with them. I dont know what to do. Please help. Here are the payday loans I currently owe on.

Chrysler Finance closed out my account as "charged off as bad debt." The account was bought by Palisades Collection LLC who want to collect $4,571.00 from me. I have never had any contact with either Chrysler or Palisades in reference to this debt because I moved overseas. After discovering this debt on my credit report, I called Palisades, a representative told me that if I paid the entire amount, they would remove the derogatory entry from my credit report.

Back last month I sent a DV letter to a local collection agency. I knew exactly how much I owed the doctor.. just haven't had the money. Anyway they had one amount $497 I think if i remember correctly, it's at home, orginal bill was $349. I sent them and thanked them for sending me the DV that I requested however it still didn't tell me how they came up to $497. My co-worker recommended I talk with this co. I checked with BBB and there are no complaints so I am going to go forward unless I decide to file for bankruptcy. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to repair credit after debt settlement?

Hi, I asked ChekSystems to provide me with "proof" of what they are reporting. For each account they simply typed in "ChekSystems has no debt infomormation available". If they are REPORTING this as a ding against me and I request proof of the debt, isn't it their responsibility to provide me with the info I am requesting (proof of the debt to include all documents, etc). Or can they just report what they want to report with no accountability to me? They keep telling me to "contact the party involved to see if the debt is owed".
