Okay, so I'm choosing to go it alone when negotiating with an attorney who has served me with a summons/complaint (which I answered with affirmative defenses, etc. so they couldn't get a default judgment against me for this alleged credit card debt that is over 5 years old) I recently received a letter from the attorney offering to settle before the pretrial hearing in a month.

:cry: [color=Violet][/color] I've had a debt collector that called me today at 6pm.And they were harrassing me about some at&t cell phone that they think that I might still have.On which that I don't.So now their gonna send me a letter about me going to court about it.How can I resolve this in anyway?

In November, my husband received a collection letter from PRA attempting to settle a Sears account. I asked my husband about this and he said he thinks he might have had a Sears account when married to his ex, but was not aware of any outstanding debt. They separated in 1994, she moved out of the country in 1997 and the divorce was final in 1998. My husband was never contacted regarding this account. Following the advice on this and other related sites, I had my husband send PRA a letter requesting Validation of Debt.

I have a third party CA on my back for an alleged debt oversees in the UK. I sent them a DV 5 months ago and they have just responded with a couple of photocopies of statements (no signature on contract ....just statements) so I don't know if they have properly validated. I would like to contact the JDB in the UK to sort this out,does anyone see the danger in me sending a cease and desist to the third party CA here in the States?

If the original creditor assigns a charged off debt to a debt collector and then that debt collector, after 2 years sells it to another company, does that new company become the assignor of the original creditor? Reason I ask is seeing as I am being sued on a debt that is not mine, they claim that the original creditor assigned the debt to them when in fact they purchased the debt from GACC. What I don't understand is that GACC is licensed to collect debt in my state and they never tried to sue me. Now this new company comes along who is not licensed and sues me.

I have around 185,000 est (93,000 credit line boa, 22,000 boa cc, 48,000 ae cc, 17,000 discover, 23,000 usaa cc) I have a loan on my house for 525,000 and a 2nd 235,000 (the house is worth maybe $700,000 and a $1,000 a month truck payment. I make $220,000 a year and wife makes 100,000 a year but we are both in sales and have really slowed down. Income will be alot lower this year. Do you think I will be a good canatite for debt settlement and do you think they will make me have a income verification. I really don't have the money but can get a loan from freind for around 40,000.

I am trying to get "pay for delete" on 2004 collection, they said they can only update the credit line with "pay as agreed"..
