allied interstate called me today and left a message on my answering machine saying they were attempting to collect a debt. I know I do not have any debt. All my bills are payed and I do not have credit cards. I do not have the slightest clue as to why they would be calling me. I was thinking it could be a scam so I looked the company up on the internet and everything I have read about them is negative, including sometimes they contact you when you do not have debt. What should I do?

Hi there, I have a collection item from HSBC which was sold off to LVNV (collection agency). On my credit report, it showed that the LVNV item is supposed to stay on my credit until 1/09. I tried disputing the item with Experian to show the HSBC and LVNV items were too old to be on my report...it hasn't given me the results for LVNV yet, but said that the HSBC item is verified to continue on my record. There is no indication of when the HSBC item will fall off my record according to Experian. Did I jump the gun?

Has anyone heard anything about the line of credit that Advance America has started to offer? From what I understand, the line of credit is up to $750 and you make monthly payments to pay it off. There is supposedly no interest charge, which I find hard to believe. I know that Virginia did have some new payday loan laws go into effect on January 1. Anyone have any info on this?
