Has anyone had luck with settling with Citibank? Can you give details like how past due was the account and what did you settle at? Thanks!

Hello, Today I settled my $3,500 Debt for $1,300 with A.F.S since they recalled the debt from N.E.S. Due to my Email complaint, heres my Question - I dont have the money to sue N.E.S. for all of the Laws that they broke and the Harassment as well , but maybe sombody can tell me where I can file more complaints against them ?

I just joined this site recently, (although I don't know why I am usually posted as a guest!)and I'm so glad I did. I have found so much information on here. I have four internet loans, and I live in NC, so I know it's illegal, and shame on me for getting them in the first place. Well, I did sign up with Langhorne debt solutions, but the more I think about it, the more I think I can do this on my own. I found a letter from this site from some time ago. What if I send this to my creditors?

I have 3 debts with different collectors, 2 with CACV and 1 with Zenith. These have been moved/sold several times over the past 5 years. I have been making payments ($25 a month to each) for a couple of years in the hope of doing better in the future. In the past month I have learned a great deal about this type of debt collection and how shady it is. I want to deal with these debts and thanks to a family member may now have the money to negotiate them down and pay them off. Do I need to and can I still request validation of the debts?

I want to start negotiation with my creditors. I have been trying to pay but this year my income dropped sharply. Do I stop paying anything to my creditors while I am in negotiation?

has anyone done a stop payment and had problems for cashstargroup or ameriloan?

Shazzers....THANK YOU FOR THE INFO!!! Let me get this straight....if the PDL is NOT legal in my state, I copy the letters here and send them to the PDL.....AND close my account?? Because I am safe once I pay back principal in full??? I have the one letter of the MO law and then another I saw someone in CT use....I was just going to modify the text for my particulars??

We have gotten two voice messages from these people now. I could tell they were a debt collector by the message they left yesterday. I called back the number and got a recording stating they were Phillips and Cohen and any information they get would be an attempt to collect a debt or some such statement.

I ran out of time with AMEX and ny credit report shows no payment history and OC in the 1 box. They forward me to NCO when I call Amex and I have just settled with NCO, The letter stated they will report to AMEX that the account is settled. My question is who will report it to the Credit Bureaus as settled. I am just confused with what AMEX did? Did they charge it off or just contract it out to NCO? I have Western Union proof of payment and a letter. I am just waiting for a letter from NCO saying it is final.

Can a collection agency garnish an unemployment check to pay back a defaulted loan?
