My wife received a letter from a law office today for a medical /hospital debt of $1300. It stated to settle or go to court (to sum it up). She is disabled and only recieves a small SS check monthly. Can they garnish her disability check? Btw, we live in Florida and share a checking account.

Hi I am thinking about signing up with Care One Credit for their debt settlement Program -- $50K in debt for settlement and $30 K that I will keep out since, I have a car which may be tied to one of those cards (same company - chase) Does signing up for this program stop calls? Especially to work -- which I am most concerned about? Also -- feedback on Care One Credit and Their settlement program -- they have attorney's which work for them -- any people in New York dealt with them here? thanks for the advice in advance :)

First of all I would like to thank everyone for their most valuable advice. I followed your suggestions and filed with the court that I could neither confirm nor deny because the plaintiff has not validated the debt. The case was referred to mediation and when the attorney for LVNV Funding would not make himself available to select a mediator I certified copied both the court and the lawyer that I was requesting that the court appoint a mediator...have not heard back from the court on that yet. Today I get an interrogatory from the attorney to basically I admit this money.

I need some guidance. I have 6 payday loans (all internet, probably all illegal) and I'm sure I've paid the principal and then some on most of them yet they still try to collect from me. I am disgusted with myself for even letting the problem fester as much as it has. I ended up taking out more loans to help pay back the initial loans, and just can't afford to do that along with rent, car, bills, etc. My credit union checking acct is constantly overdrawn. So from what I'm reading, I will need to close it.

My situation has continued to snowball and I am using all of my paycheck to repay my extension fees. I cannot pay any of my other bills because of this. I need HELP, any suggestions? i was just woundering if c&d letter are even effective against pdl. my main concern is on 2 internet loans i have, paychecktoday and cashadvancenetwork. from what i have read mailing them a c&d does no good. There is no garantee you even have the right address. i have formatted a c&d email and need to know if anyone else has tried this and if it was effective? I'm debating rather or not to send it. I have a feeling if i do send it it will just add fuel to the fire and give them that much more reason to call me at work and my refrences...etc.

I got an offer from dmcc on 2 of my credit cards totalling ~15k for 417 per month. My boa cc (18%) only went down to 16% but my att universal apr(15) dropped to 8.9. Does this sound like a decent offer? Keep in mind this is the first company ive consulted with... thx
