Received a message on my answering machine from this phone number stating "it is in my best interest to return this phone call by 5 p.m. today". This was yesterday. I do not get off work until 4:30 p.m. and I am not usually home until well after 6 p.m. (after picking up the kids). Anyone know who this number belongs to? Please advise?

The credit card offer includes paying off an old old debt. It says on the backside that they can't sue for old debt past SOL. It also says they can send a cancelation, to report the debt forgiveness, to the IRS. How/WHY does this crazy companay think the old debt is mine???? Do they have to prove it before they give me a tax form 1099c? If it is mine, it would be from 1997 and the amount is very inaccurate. Does Jefferson Capital often send 1099c forms?

My situation is a little complicated for me to explain, but I will go ahead and give it a try. I had been with US Bank for about 6 years, but in September, my account went into the red due to one of the payday loans taking $450 out when I thought all payments were stopped. Since then, my account keeps going deeper and deeper into the red because I have no way of paying it off, and I don't know what to do.

In this trying time when our economy is passing through a rough patch, our pocket is becoming constrained. But we can’t avoid holidaying too. Now how can you enjoy your holidays without exceeding your budget?

Can debtor sue LVNV because they report as installment account on credit reports?

I won a law suit for a car wreck. I haven't worked in 4 years. I won very little money. I got money for lost wages, pain and suffering, and future medical expenses. If I am sued by a collector, what part of the above money could they garnish? Or if I am given a canceled debt form to file with my taxes, will the lawsuit winnings money increase my taxable amount? What part of the above money is reported as income on my next tax return?

Is a judgment lien the same as a money judgment? I ask because bankruptcy don't stop judgment liens. I have a judgment against me for a credit card, I have no property, so they will probably go after my wages, is it the same thing?

First a few facts from me:

I live in California. The SOL is not a factor, I made payment this year. The original creditor, HFC, is stated as the plaintiff I did have 30 days to respond before I received the summons, but I didn't dispute the debt. The debt plus the court fees, which I am also being sued for, total about $3200

The Story: I have received a summons from Mann Bracken, and yes I have read a bunch about them on this site and others, but I worked out a plan on the phone and I am now waiting to get the written proposal.

I am from Louisiana and I have 3 store front payday loans with Show Me The Money, $350.00, Easy Money EMG $350.00, and Finance America $275.00 I also have online loans with Cashnet Usa $345, Payday Services, $625, United Cash Loans $390 and another online that I will have to look up the name because it is worded really strange. Anyways, I am really stressed that I will lose everything if I do not get rid of these loans. I am very concerned that once I stop paying them, they will call my job so much that I will have major problems at work as my boss really would not understand.

I was dealing with a debt collector who is trying to collect a debt from me - so I sent a DV letter, they wrote back saying they hadn't heard from me - so I sent ANOTHER DV Letter (both were certified w/ return receipts). They originally contacted me on September 12th and finally verified the debt on October 23rd and on the 28th I received a court summons.
