I just stumbled across this forum. I had two credit cards which I applied for last year. Since that time, my job was terminated due to downsizing in the organization. I'm now working part time and getting unemployment compensation. I've had 2 different collection agencies phoning me for quite some time. Just last night, however, one of my neighbors came to me & said someone had phoned her looking for me. No one I know knows any of my neighbors or their phone numbers.

I have a payday loan with Cash Transfer Centers. They were trying to "verify" my employment, job title, last payday and social security number with my HR department so they could attempt to collect from my payroll. They sent an e-mail, which I was copied on, to the wrong person. They divulged my personal information to someone else who works for the same county as I but, who has nothing to do with department I am in. Is there anything I can do?

I had a default judgement place against me by Pressler and Pressler, New Century Financial. When I went to hackensack court I got a copy of my file and responded with a Motion to Dismiss, included with a letter to P&P to validate the debt. In the court file there was a "computer generated report of financial informtion" between defendant and NCF "as successor in interest to Citi Financial" for the debt. Does this means the new owner is Pressler buying the debt.

I have tried getting help from legal aid, but they said I don't meet the income guidelines. I have contacted several attorneys to see what their fees were and they all range between $800-$1200. I don't have the money to pay them that, and even though they offer installments, I have a judgement against me and I wanted to file for bankruptcy immediately to stop the judgement. So, I don't have enough money to file and I make too much to get legal aid. Has anyone here been in this situation and what did you do?

Can you handle a situation that is approximately $215,000 in credit card debt?

I live in florida, have 6 payday loans, Arrowhead Inv, B.I.G., E-Payday or EME, MYquickloan,Paycheck today, PayDayone, I have been paying on them for about 4 months, I am going under slowly. I cant seem to get caught up. I am thinking of closing my bank acct and trying to make payment arrangements? Maybe making a one time monthly payment ot pay off within the next couple weeks. Can anyone guide me as what to do first since once I close my acct they will be angry? I could use any advice and any fax numbers and addresses for any of them. Thank you for any help Joni

Unrelated debt question but how do I get notified by email when someone adds to a post? I have to keep searching for threads I'v been reading. Some I can't find.

I have 16,400$ left on my student loan - principal is 12,800$. I have deferred or received forebearance for the last 6 of the last 8 years. I will be receiving a sizeable amount in the future, in the neighborhood of 12,000$ and wanted to know if there was a common formula to determine what SallieMae would settle for. How do I determine the settlement they'd agree to, and just as importantly what is the best method to use to inquire/request this settlement? Thank you in advance.

I have almost 54k in debt which includes cc and student loans. I am trying to find help on a consolidation or settlement solution, does this company work and help with that kind of debt?
