consolidating credit card and lowering monthly payments..

17 years 10 months ago
I owe about 30,000 to various credit cards. My credit rating is actually excellent--764. But I find myself with hospital bills, child care, mortgage, etc that I cannot keep up with. My credit card interest rates are as low as the companies will allow, yet I still pay out 650 per month to these companies. If I settle, how will that effect my credit rating? What is the best way to settle? Is settling this debt actually going to lower my monthly payments?

Consumer Recovery Associates - What will you do if they harass you?

17 years 10 months ago
Hello everyone, Earlier this week I got a phone call from a Mr. Johnson stating that he represents the offices of Christopher Adams and that I need to call back by 6:00PM in order to make a statement on a case and he left me a case number. After pulling up my credit report and doing some searching online, I was able to figure out that this guy was calling from Consumer Recovery Associates and I have found the address for them in Virgina.

Relentless Spammers will stop at nothing..

OK, so, yesterday, 'thomashanks' was spamming the forum repeatedly with his/her advertisement to get a loan which also included his email address. Well, after deleting and deleting post after post, I got a little miffed and decided to send an email to this so called 'thomashanks'. I told him to stop spamming Debt CC and that solicitations were against the rules.

order of payment

17 years 10 months ago
I have credit card balances that I am trying to pay off and also a first and second mortgage. My business income is taking a dive so I am going to start coming up short. Most standard advice on debt repayment is to pay the highest interest credit card balances first, snowball the payments and move on to the next one on the list, leaving the mortgage to last. I'm concerned that I will get the credit cards paid and lose my house to foreclosure. I would like to hear from anyone who has insight into this situation.

Obtaining tax forms

17 years 10 months ago
I have a question: To file it says you need to get a recent copy of your tax forms. I just got a job so I didn't file for 2007, my last job was in 2002 before my accident, do I need to give them those forms, even though they are from 6 years ago? They were my last income tax forms.

Wisconsin or Illinois..not sure who to file complaint with

17 years 10 months ago
I was residing in Wisconsin when I took the loans out with MTE financial and USFastcash. While my loans were still active I moved to Illinois and I updated my new info with both PDL's. My question is if I want to file complaints with the Attorney Generals office, do I have to file in Wisconsin where I was living when the loan originated or do I file with Illinois where I'm currently residing. Wisconsin does not have a cap on the interest rates for PDL's but Illinois does. I need the attorney generals help getting these off my back, just not sure which one to use.

Help for my mother! Legal Mediation company!!

17 years 10 months ago
This time it's not me, its my 78 yr old mother...and Legal Mediation. What can you tell me about this company? Long story short(well as short as it can be) , my mom is 78 and not in good mental health, we recently found out she had gotten her self in a bad situation with her money, we even moved her into a senior living apartment and my sister took over her bill paying. During this mess, she had taken out 2 PDLs, (we didn't know about), and of course didn't pay them back.

ok here is my question regarding debt snowballing...

17 years 10 months ago
myself and my wife have about $76,000 in debt between credit cards, car loans, student loans etc. I have a bunch of credit cards with small to medium balances. I just read "The total money makeover" and we are on board and just did our budgeting, and emergency fund. I just did our debt snowball chart. My question is... my credit is shot to hell as it is... should I look at settling a lot of my smaller to medium balances and getting them out of the way so we can start tackling the larger ones? Any input would be greatly welcomed
