My boyfriend has a judgement against him for a credit card from when he was younger. Within the past year he has started to work for himself and do handy work. He recently did a job for someone and they didn't pay him the balance that they owed him. He has been trying to get it since January. If he sues them in local court and wins, will they take the money and put it towards to judgement? Also, will the local judge be able to see that he has a judgement and hold it against him?

Hi there. I know this has been stated over and over on this forum, but trying to read them all is so confusing. I have 4 pdl's out there and the interest payments every month - around $500 - are sinking me into a hole. Right now I AM in the hole, between all my bills going through, the pdl's, and overdraft fees, my paycheck is not covering everything. I am in Illinois, and all the pdl's are on the internet. No storefronts.

Washington Mutual was calling daily on both my husband's card and my card that we are unable to make payments on. We had sent a hardship letter previous to stopping the payments due to a loss of income and overwhelming debt. They notified us that we didn't qualify for their hardship programs, but even if we had qualified, we wouldn't be able to make the minimum payments that they would want (I know this because we also have many other cards that we can't pay).

Will you recommend a law firm?

I have a friend at work who got a letter stating that since she has not used her sears card in a long time, never been late, no balance, that they Sears/Citi bank decided to close it. They not only did that but now her credit report has a mark on it for that. Is this normal, legal and what can she do? She wants her card back and the mark removed from her credit report. Any advise or similar stories? Thanks, Luke

I came across this website by accident but WOW! is it full of information. My husband and I have some credit card debt that we have let become seriously deliquent (about $2500-$2700). We also have quite a large amount of medical debt and one of the creditors has filed a suite against us and is now threatening garnishment. We are not bad people, we both have jobs and own our home. Our son has had chronic medical issues since birth and we have been buried with these expenses (13 years worth).

i am in college with foolish debt between credit cards and student loans at about 100,000 and still have 2 years left. the future is scaring me! what are some ways i will be able to handle the payback, will i be able to handle it? i am not doing this again, i am done spending money. mark my words.it is too late to transfer schools (as most schools won't accept my school's credits). I took the stupid chase student loans out which give you extra money for room and board and computers and all that and took waaay too much money out and spent it.
