does anyone know if they are illegal in washington dc? I had a 400 dollar loan and they want me to pay 800 are they crazy or what

A lot of posts here mention contacting the BBB, FDIC, FCC, and other agencies. I was wondering - seeing as many of the PDLs such as MTE are located on Indian reservations, has anyone ever contacted the reservations or agencies such as Bureau of Indian affairs, regarding PDLs on Indian land? It would be interesting what they have to say about the PDLs, especially in light of various articles I've seen online about Indians being victims of "predatory lenders," including PDLs!

I keep getting call from Avante USA on my caller ID. They never leave a message. Does anyone know anything about them?

Will payday loans sue me or have me arrested for stopping payment on a PDL? I have 2 PDLs that I have paid on for 4 weeks. Of course this just pays the rollover fees not the principle. I live in NJ and found that PDL's are illegal and all other loans have a 30%cap. I can't sleep or eat afraid I will be arrested or something. What should I do? I faxed them letters and sent them emails stating the money I paid should apply to the principle and then they would be paid in full except for the 30% interest allowed by NJ law.

I got a voicemail today from Cash2daylimited. The message left detailed information, including debt amount and social security number, and also threatened to call my supervisor and said they could garnish 40% of my paycheck if i didn't set up arrangements. The guy said he'd be willing to knock down 80% of the total debt. Anyway wanting to avoid my employer being called, even though i'm pretty sure that's not legal, i called in and the guy was saying how he could set up a settlement through 4,5, or 6 monthly installments.

Recently I acquired a copy of my credit report and it shows that there is an entry from Lawrence Nathan Associates on behalf of Edollars Direct in the amount of $465 for a payday that I took in 2005. After doing some research on the internet I found that in 2006 Edollars Direct was fined $50K by the State of Nevada for being unlicensed.

FYI to Admin - There is a major programming error on this site that makes it INCREDIBLY simple to break into any users account here . . . . Anybody that thought about it could figure it out, and it requires no skill at all. I'm not going to post how to do it, but it's really easy. It's a serious shortfall in the programming here, and should be fixed immediatly, which is why I'm posting here instead of just pming, because I figure that would just be ignored. Admin can contact me and I'll explain to them the weakness . . . . .
