EFT ACT

18 years 1 month ago
I need help understanding this act. I see where I have the right to stop ACH payments but my bank charged me a fee to do this. What section of this act applies so that I can show to bank. I have a credit only on bank account now, but I want to close account permanently. I am just as frustrated with the bank as I am with the pdls.

Will an account freeze keep the wolves away temporarily?

18 years 1 month ago
I just got off the phone with the bank. My account is in the negative. The bank said they could put a freeze on my account until I get back in the positive and the I can close it out. What could I expect next from pdl companies? I live in PA and worried about being sued before I settle with them. I am not currently in default and have 10 loans. Thanks

Letter from little loanshop

18 years 1 month ago
Hi everyone. I got a letter from the little loanshop via usps yesterday. It says basically "You may have overlooked your loan with us....you owe $227" (took out the loan for $200 and paid $85 so far). They went on to say, let us help you with arrangements, blah, blah, blah. OR, you can send us payment via moneygram... I'm just wondering if anyone else has received a letter from them, and if so, how did you handle it? Also, I think I read on here somewhere that the little loanshop is in hot water. Does anyone know anything about that?

IRA distrubutions

I’m not sure if this fits this forum…but you guys are so knowledgeable. My Dad has 4 IRA’s and at age 83 he get regular distributions by law. While getting his tax papers ready we discovered that one of the IRA’s did not give him any distributions for 2007 nor have they done so far in 2008. I called them and after putting me on hold for several minutes they said that Dad was only set up for 2006 and that he had not asked for any in 2007. I stated that it is the law that they make the distributions as they did in 2006.

Criteria to be a Moderator

This was posted as criteria to become a mod: 1.) A person should have 1000 posts in the Debtcc forum, a minimum of 6 months in the community and be admitted into the Hall of Fame. 2.) A person must be nominated by at least five other members who have sent an email or private message to Polly or Mike. Simple question: Does anyone know if this is still the guideline? If not, what is?

Recieved summons, but not sure agency owns debt

18 years 1 month ago
So... I received a summons for a Chase credit card debt that I incurred in 04-05. I've been reading about making sure the agency actually owns this debt, and when I called them for proof, they refused to give it to me and told me to answer the summons. I'm filing my answer tomorrow, saying that this agency hasn't showed me any proof of ownership. My question is: What happens if they do infact show proof that they own this debt? And, more importantly, what happens if the don't own this debt? What steps would I take in order to get this paid and over with?

Is their a way to stop ACH withdrawls??

18 years 1 month ago
Is their a way to stop pdl ach withdrawal so I can get my account back in the positive on payday and close my account. My bank told me the couldn't do a general ACH block on my account, that I would have to put a stop payment and pay for each company. Which we all know they are known to have several names. I bank with sovereign and live in PA. I have 10 loans so I want this viscious cycle to end. I am not in default, am current, and plan to eventually plan to pay them all off. Thanks
