Fun With MTE

18 years 1 month ago
I finally resolved one of my accounts with MTE today, but thought I'd post the various responses to and from the BBB, for no reason other than they're kind of funny. It all starts with my initial complaint, filed against MTE. They respond with the usual denials... So I respond... Now it gets funny.

SALLIE MAE AND STUDENT LOANS

18 years 1 month ago
While I was in college from Fall 2000 to Fall 2005, I had taken out around $25,000 of student loans thru Sallie Mae. When I graduated I consolidated my loans at an interest rate of about 4.5%. I just checked my records and it shows I will be paying student loans until the year 2027. For almost 2 years I have been paying $105 per month but in July 2008 my payments will increase to $175 per month. To knock down this student loan debt, would it be wise for me to double and/or triple up on payments? Or should I just pay the minimum until its done?

Is This The Right Decision For Me?

18 years 1 month ago
Do to my father's illness I had to move from Philadelphia to Cleveland to aid in his care. While living in Philly I was comfortably able to pay my creditors on a regular basis, including more than the minimum amount. Since moving to Cleveland however the job market is practically nonexistent and I am making quite a bit less than I had before the move. Although I am 'just' making my monthly credit payments and maintaining my credit score of 705, it is all I can afford.

Always read the fine print

18 years 1 month ago
One of my friends received a dunning letter from Calvary and it states on the back of the letter (in fine print) if you send them a check you are also authorizing them to make a one time electronic withdraw from your account. I guess they want to debit your account for the rest when yous end them a payment. Quite deceitful...

Alliance Asset Management

18 years 1 month ago
E-payday loan has sent my account to Alliance Asset Management which is a nasty collection agency. They are wanting $540 today. I only owe $210! This pdl company is illegal right and what about this collection agency?? They told me I was committing an federal offense in the state of Tennessee but the pdl is an illegal company. What should I do? I want to nip this in the bud before they start calling my work and driving me crazy! Thanks for your help!!

On the loss of friends

18 years 1 month ago
I lost a good friend a few days ago. I'd known him for several years, ever since I came to New England. Though he had his faults in full measure, as we all do, he was a good and honorable man who was always quick with a smile or to lend a hand. Sadly, he passed away early Monday morning, at the age of 53. The world will be a smaller place without him in it. I'm not the prayin' sort myself, but I've had a few words with the man upstairs on this. If you could spare a moment out of your busy day to give a quick word or a kind thought for my friend 'Rotten' Richard Hayes, I'd be most grateful.

AIP in Delaware, BIG in UK (?), CashCall

18 years 1 month ago
Hi - I've seen some discussion of AIP on here. I've been doing business with them for quite some time. I've probably paid them dozens of $89 "processing fees" over the years. I filed a complaint tonight with the BBB as was suggested to someone else. I really need to stop my direct deposit and get a physical payroll check so I can regain control of my paycheck. After my payday loans and other high interest loans come out, I have virtually nothing left. Bankruptcy is not an option because I filed a CH 7 two years ago. I know - and I'm in debt already again?
