I have a appointment with Legal Helpers tomorrow to file for Chapter 13. Should I go with a debt settlement Company first? Have anyone had a good experience with a settlement company?

Would it be possible at all that once we cash out we can get set back to zero like Credit forum and AMPM? Would really be helpful. Thanks

I am responsible for about $24,000.00 of unsecured debt that has all been charged off. I periodically get letters in the mail form collection agencies and mostly automated calls on the answering machine from collection agencies as well. My question is this: Can I still negotiate with the original creditor? Or should I deal with the agency?

I borrowed 300.00 from Northbay Ventures in 2007 and did not have the money to pay back when it was due. It was turned over to Westbury Ventures and they wanted me to pay 660.00. I paid them 315.00 and told them they would not get anymore from me and that I was sending a letter to the Attorney General. I have put a stop payment on my bank account so they will not be able to debit my account anymore.

I have 30,000 in unsecured debt. I'm barely making minimum payments. I have a 401k that I can cash out which, after tax and penalties would eradicate this debt. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

i received a payday loan a few months ago and then lost my job...so I cannot pay it...I was threatened with going to jail by a law firm and I want to know if this is true or just a scare tactic.

Just curious if anyone has had the misfortune of having to deal with Cash 4 U? These people have got to be the worst intimidators!!!! I simply asked for this woman "Angela" who claims she was from their legal department which I don't believe to provide me with documentation and their head office phone number - she flatly refused and was completely ignorant. I am not easily intimidated and didn't bow down to her threats which I think was making her more ignorant and mad but I really don't care. She tried to tell me that I will go to court and that I would have to pay $1,500 in legal fees.

Dear Friends, I am in a unique situation and I am looking for help for 1 year. I was cheated by one debt consolidation lasy year. Here is my situation - 1. I had few credit cards during my graduate studies in maryland. I maintained good credit history for almost 2 years and paid payments on time. I had one Auto Loan (Major Debt and paid 80% of Debt) and other credit cards which I paid and closed the accounts. 2. After Graduation, My Financial Situation Changed and I was NOT able to pay on time and slowly my credit history is going down.
