not sure what to do now

18 years 1 month ago
My husband just got a letter in the mail today about an old debt that he never paid. It was for around $3200 on a four wheeler he bought that got repossessed about 3 years ago. Anyways, the collection agency wanted to settle the account for $900 but we don't have the money to pay the lump sum so we kinda ignored it. Well today we got a letter stating that this account is now being handled by some law firm and that we must contact them to dispute the validity of the debt or they will assume it is a valid debt. What exactly is going to happen now?

Cash Call Getting Ridiculous

18 years 1 month ago
I like to check up on cash call and I was surprised to see this: PRODUCT PROCEEDS FEE apr Payments Amount $1,500 Loan $1,000 $500 141.42% 12 $159.83 They are actually charging $500 in fee's for a $1500 loan. I really hope that nobody is desperate enough to do this. Imagine paying 141% interest on that $500 Fee that you "borrowed". Just in case this comes up on Google I will put what you have paid: You get $1000, you pay $2,417 over the year(included is their "fee"). These people are insane!

Helping others with debt

Has anyone here had any experience approaching a friend or relative regarding their debt (I mean the friend or relative's debt). I am very concerned about someone close to me who I know is in very bad shape. This past week, their heat and electricity were going to be shut off due to non-payment. In the past, I have loaned money to this person for similar situations and am nervous that they are not making any improvement or effort to help the situation. They have never paid back what I have loaned. I am happy to help, but I am by no means wealthy.

Will I Ever Make It???

18 years 1 month ago
We have over $50K in credit card debt. It's on two bank cards at an average of 16% interest. My husband and I are completely depressed. We have stopped using credit cards completely, but we are finding that we don't have enough income to get through the month now. Forget about money for our kids' college, we're just trying to figure out how to pay the minimum payments and interest and still get by! My husband is a state employee and I have a consulting business at home.

Has anyone used Credit Card Zappers?

18 years 1 month ago
I found a company called Credit Card Zappers who is supposed to take fees off your credit card. It's not debt consolidation. They said you don't have to be behind on payments to use them, but if you want fees removed like interest, late fees, etc., they can help. I checked with the Better Business Bureau and they have a perfect record. Just wondering if anyone else has used them.
