I settled with one creditor/collector a while ago in 2004. Yet, I did not receive a release letter from this company even though I requested in the mail (I do have a copy of the letter, the rep name and its extension number). The settlement information has been on my report since it occurred, which is ok with me. So I did not bother... The real question is that should I ask them to provide it now? Greatly appreciate everyone's input. Thank you.

I have (12) internet payday loans that I received last Oct to the lst one being in March. I would like to know the laws in Ohio pertaining Online/Internet Payday Loans. I was going to use Langhorne but was scared that they were just a scam taking my money. I only have received a call from Bass & associates, and have not heard from them since I sent them a certified receipt letter requesting documentation of the loans they were representing. I have not received any calls or leters from any Payday Loan which scares me because I do not know what they are going to do with my loans.

Frankly speaking i face a lot of finance here for the past 6months, now im not able to make payments even for the minimum due, in short i already received phone calls for the debt collectors from bank and even legal notice asking to lay in full amount with the legal fees included, i dont have any security cheque issued to the bank HSBC, but forms during the application of the credit card? My question is any person being jailed or sued for not payment of card?

Thank you all for your advice so far. I am new here, just a few days now. Some suggested I should send dispute letter even though I am not sure is the debt is mine. Yet, many of you adviced here to send validation letter or verification letter. I am confused which one is for what and if I would violate anything if I send dispute at the first and later found it was actually mine. At this time, collectors have not contacted me either phone or in writing. But found them via my recent report and memo dropped in my mail box.

I have just got my first credit report, and i noticed that some of the boxes are say kd but stop at jul 07, does that mean its taken care of? Also i noticed one of the credit cards said Profit and loss writeoff, what does that mean?

What exactly are the points we receive after we enter feedback used for?
