I was recommended to Federated Financial when I asked for a consultation. I've been communicating with a person there by email & she's been VERY nice and reassuring. So today I'm making the big leap...I'm calling with my how much I owe on accounts & who I owe them to. I'm nervous, but yet I'm happy. I can't do this on my own anymore. I just hope this all works out. I added up everything I owe on my cards...it comes to about $17,000. The payments are just too much on my own now. Wish me luck? Any words of advice before I leap?

I was wondering if you guys or any other debt consolidation company pulls credit reports to determine what all is owed, instead of having to put them all in manualy???

My husband has a charge off on his report from JC Penney's that his mother applied for, so I guess you can call it identity theft. The account was opened when he was still in high school. He was 18 though by then. It is for over $300. The owner is listed as Shared but otherwise undesignated. The date opened is 5/1999. The last payment was 10/2002 This was reported in 6/2004. I don't have any other info about this. We never received any collection letter from this. But I know it was her because we found out about her opening a Sear account in his name also.

I have a number of charge-offs. The problem is that they have been sent to collections. I paid the collection agency. Will they or do they contact the original creditor and so that they can note on my report that it was paid? How do you handle that?

I am hearing various things about credit card payments, can you help me understand about it. I have following queries: 1) What are minimum payments and total due? 2) If they say that they will charge 10%, what does that mean? Is it monthly or annualy? 3) Also I heard that they have some hidden fees and tricky interest formulas, what are these and how can I learn about it? Thanks, Marcus
