Can a debt collector run a hard credit check on me without my authorization?

I had loans out with star advance, impact, united cash loans, its my pay day, and fast bucks now. I closed my checking account in April, and so far the only one to contact me was impact cash asking for 200.00. I told them no, and have not heard anything else. I am waiting for the slew of calls to start. Thanks to you guys I know how to answer them

As far as I know, not paying a debt is just that, not paying a debt. It's not fraud unless you are embezzling money or something of that sort, right? And, if the debt in question is illegal (as they are with many of these IPLs) how can they enforce anything? How many people each day default on credit cards, car loans, personal loans, etc? It's not considered fraud in those cases.... Just some food for thought.
