I owe alot on my credit cards, is there a way to have them freeze or close the account so that I can just pay off what I currently owe without getting hit with all the interest charges and late fees?

Years ago I had some credit issues. Some cards went unpaid. I got several things removed from my credit report by either paying the debts or disputing the postings. All of a sudden this attorney, Gerald Philips, started calling my house everyday and now I've been served with a lawsuit! This debt doesn't show up on my credit report and right now I don't even know who the original creditor was. I'm hoping that I can call this attorney to work out some sort of settlement before anything gets to court- that is not my main concern.

If a collection agency sends you a 1099C: 1. What is the amount on the 1099C? The amount of the original defaulted credit card, or the amount the collector paid for the old debt, or the huge amount with the collector's fees and interest? 2. Is the collector required to remove the negative reports on your credit reports when they send a 1009C? 3. Can a collector send a 1099C if they haven't proven the debt is yours?

My daughter called me panicked a while back that an attorney's office had called and was VERY rude to her about a hosptial bill that has BEEN paid and taken care of long ago! She almost paid it again after the call! I told her to hang on let me see what i could do. So I disputed it with the credit bureau, indeed it was on her report and i sent a DV letter to this "so" called atty!

I need some help with my debt. I tried to go with a different company and they told me it was too late to help me. The Law Firm just served me papers a week ago. Is there anything you can do to help?

i am stuck in the payday loan trap and cannot get out. the payments are more than what i bring in every two weeks and i do not know how to get out of the cycle. it has finally come down to an overdrawn bank account and not being able to meet the payments. they have been calling me at work demanding payment. i am not refusing to pay, i just cannot afford to.

I am still making my payments on time on my credit card but my balance is out of control, is there anything I can do without losing my card privileges in case of emergency. Thanks

Does anyone know who this is? I was stupid and did not save documentation and now they are taking money out of my account and all it says is Lazer Lending with no phone number or address...

I took a payday loan out several months ago. Well 1 turned into another and then another and another- just like so many others on here well now I have 6 and I can't pay may electric and gas bill. I am a single mom of 2 and I am broke all the time. Weekly I have @least $300 a week taken out of my account which leaves me maybe another $200 to pay all my other bills. I read some of the posts on her and already called my bank and having them block all ACH debits from my account. Now I need to know where do I go from here. I live in Minnesota and have no idea what the laws are. Please help!
