I received a nasty phone call from a man claiming he represented the Law firm of Westbury. Upon further investigation the man was not an attorney nor is Westbury a law firm. However, he was rude to me, and he would not give me a physical address to send a debt validation letter to. During the 2nd call I made to him he finished by telling me to "Get off of my phone. You are wasting my time" Has anyone ever encountered this company? Does anyone know a mailing address for this company? Thank you Mike

I will try & make this short, but need to tell the facts. In Nov 2005, my mom-in-law called me & asked me to take her to my atty to file bankruptcy. It seems that she was taking cash advances on 1 credit card to pay another until the minimum payments would have totalled over $1000 a month - more than she gets on ss. We had NO idea any of this was going on, as I would have tried to help or advised her not to do that. Well $72,000 later, she asked for help. The atty we went to said she couldn't file bankruptcy because they would maker her sell her house.

Back in January I emailed CDE (Cash Direct Express) my letter to PIF my PDL since I overpaid. They did agree finally to mark my account PIF in January. I did file a complaint with my AG's office as I stated in my letter., the AG's office did mail them some sort of letter becuz CDE left me a vm stating they recieved my complaint to the AG's office and to 'please' give them 48 hrs to evaluate. Now, what are they evaulating? CDE marked me PIF and i do have the USMail letter to prove it, could it be a refund??? That would be sweet. What would your thoughts be?

Again how I wish I would have found this place long ago - On my credit report is 2 medical bills that I paid to the CA. I got paid letters from them, I even refused to take a lower settlement and paid the full amount in payments since they said it would state that it was paid in full. However, it lists as PAYMENT AFTER CHARGE OFF/COLLECTION. Is it worth a shot you think to write them and ask for it to be changed, or should I just wait the 3 years till it's off. I have another one that shows the same, but that one will be off the report in 7/08.

Does a CA, whether it be an agency or a legal firm that collects on consumer debt, have to send the debtor a notice that they are going to file with the civil court in the debtor's county to sue them.......thus, giving them a chance to contact them to work something out? I am in a debt consolidation program, which I just started in February, and one of my creditors accepted the consolidation company's repayment proposal and a payment has been made to them.

A CA, who has been harassing me at work and making illegal threats regarding my defaulted payday loan with Cashnet 500, faxed an employment verification request to my office today. It was to the attention of the Human Resources Director, who is actually located in another state, and the letter stated that this was a formal request to verify my employment.

Well HSBC called me and offer to settle an old debt from my divorce. I havent paid in two years and my state SOL is like 6 yrs. They offered to settle for 64 cents on the dollar. Should i try to get them lower. It was from HSBC and not a collector. What do you think? THe debt is like 13 grand. Any advice?

I was young and got my self into trouble with my cell phone bill and a credit card. I am now about to become a mom and I dont want to be in debt starting off with a baby i need the help so I can raise this baby and not worry about bad credit and owing so much money every month that I can not pay. How can I contact a creditor or the collections agency to discuss my account? Is there a minimum amount to be considered for debt consolidation? How can I get a judgement removed from my credit report?

over the years, i have accumulated several debts, and though they may seem small, they have built up, and now i feel at a loss. i don't know what to do, or how to take care of this debt. only $2000 is credit cards, the rest is medical, repo-d car (from a personal loan) and a few others. i need to fix my credit, and get this stuff off! help....
