Forgiveness of Debt

18 years 11 months ago
In 2005 an old debt I owed was cancelled and a 1099 was sent to an old address which I never receieved. yesterday I received a letter from the IRS stating I owed $754 in taxes due to this "Income" that I did not report on my taxes. I pulled a credit report to see what was listed regarding this debt since they supposedly cancelled it in 2005, and there it is, still stating I owe a balance of $4653. If they forgave the balance and reported it to the IRS as income, why is it still listed as a debt owed on my credit report?

Confused but interested

I am very interested in all of the posted questions and the "advice" as well. One thing that comes to mind when reading most these posts, in my opinion, is quite simple. Why spend time and effort trying to "get" the collection agencies or orgional lenders; why spend time giving advice on how to get the agencies off of a DEBTOR'S back; why spend time and effort trying to figure out how to get out of paying. WHY NOT JUST PAY YOUR BILLS??? Would that not be easier? It appears to me that most debtors know they owe the money - most have acknowledged that in their posts.

Paid Off Another Loan

18 years 11 months ago
Today, I decided to pay off one of my loans that I have out there. It was a big decision and one I thought about intensely. I am glad that I have done this as I will be having less to pay next month. I just wanted to share that with everyone because I never thought I would pay off these debts but you all here gave me hope. And believed in me. Thank you.

need advice

I have a loan of $12,000 for an automobile that's engine just blew on me. I need some advice on what action Wells fargo can take on me if I do not pay off this loan. I cannot afford to pay off this loan, and buy another car for my transportation needs, I don't have the money. I know that if I stop paying on the loan that they can repo the car, and that's fine I don't want it anyway. But can they attach my wages in anyway? I don't own anything, no real estate, no automobiles(besides this one), I literally own nothing. So they cannot put a lien on anything.

United Cash Loans-need advice

Anyone who has dealt with them-I would appreciate any feedback. I took out a $200 loan with this company ahd have paid them $180 thus far. I have the cash to pay them what I have borrowed. My question is, do I send them $20 to pay off the principle, or pay them $30 in fees also? I would like to mail them a money order and a letter today and get them taken care of.
