Due to continued harrassment at my place of employment and my home, and the threat of turning over to their legal dept, and not validating the debt, I did some research on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. After being frustrated by the plain arrogane, willingly, knowingly and dilligently operating outside the law I filed a small claims lawsuit against this company. This involved no attorneys and the only cost to me was the filing fees. Today I WON!! They settled out of court, paying ME for the violations that they admitted to.

It is worth knowing that if you have been notified by a collection agency trying to collect a debt--to give a polite call to to the original debtor. It may be that the original debtor has sold the business and the new business owner only keeps records from the date they took over the business. WA-LA! The credit reporting agencies will remmove it from your credit report. (Even if it wasn't your debt to begin with. That's the real beauty of it! Such was the case with me.) So there you go; it doesn't ever hurt to try, huh?

In Oct 1999, I had some lab work done at a hospital for a bone marrow donation workup. I submitted my insurance information at the time of the procedure. I never heard anything more about the matter, so I assumed the hospital submitted the claim to my insurance company and that the bill was paid. In Oct 2003, I received a bill from the hospital saying that I needed to pay the full balance on the account ($1100).

I have recently used the services of this company for short term funds and found the experience to be a disaster. Every time I have talked to a csr; They seem to be of foreign persuasion and have difficulty understanding them. Adittionally, I have engaged my bank in investigating the co.

Us Fast Cash sent me a settlement offer by email and a letter by regular mail about a week ago. they are saying that I owe them $385.00 but will settle with me for $125. According to my bank records, I borrowed $300 from them and I have paid them $421. I don't know if they are licensed in my state (I don't think they are). Today I emailed them a validation letter, also requesting that they mail me a copy of their business license, etc.

We periodically receive calls from people that clearly have the wrong number. Recently, a message was received on our answering machine looking for someone who clearly does not live in our household. However, the scary thing is that their message stated, "by considering this call, you are acknowledging that you are (and then the person's name). We don't know who they are looking for and clearly they have the wrong number. The company calling is Asset Acceptance and after hearing this message I did a little Internet research and read some scary things about this company.

I have sent my c&d letter certified and faxed them a letter, filed a complaint at my AG's office. They stopped...for awhile and now they are calling again AT WORK. They can call me at home and on my cell but please not at work. Any suggestions on how to stop this.

well went to my court hearing yesterday for old cc debt..all i got was another continuance hearing.. i sent out a dv letter a few weeks ago but have recieved nothing.. they did show up in court but pulled me aside to try to settle with me..some may htink im crazy but i did not go for it as i did not and still do not know if anythign is correct in this matter.. even if they had proper info i still do not have teh money $ for it at thsi time.. they did not have anything that i felt was proof of debt..

I owe about 150,000 in credit debt. All my major credit cards are max out and have been for about a year. I also have some store cards, all max out. I have 2 car loans and $8000.00 in student loans. I am getting to the point where I cant pay on any of them anymore. I could get a loan to pay all of them off but everyone would have to settle for about 80 to 85% of full payment. Has anyone heard of the major credit card companies and other credit companies settling for a 80 to 85% settlement instead of the risk of no money as I will be forced to stop making payments.
