When the original debt collector sells your debt account, can the original, the collection agency, and the third collection agency all three report it on your credit report as three separate debts by three different companies. Is it legal for them to do this?

I found a law called "Electronic Funds Act" Among many things it "prohibits requiring electronic access to an account a condition of granting credit" And "Prohibits financial institution from requiring you to repay a loan by electronic transfer" Found info on www.ftc.gov. It also list who you can file complaints against if you feel your rights are being violated.

Hello I've been dealing, if you want to call it that, with the collection agency "allied interstate," which seems to be an ongoing topic here. I asked them in writing to verify a debt from American Express. About two months after I requested it, I got a package from American Express, showing the history of the debt, but nothing saying that they had turned it over to Allied interstate.

I entered the army when i was 18 and started spending cash faster then i was getting it now i have realized what i have done and i want to fix it before it gets to late.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry I haven't been around much over the past couple of weeks. Between mom, work, and family, I barely have anytime for me these days but we're all doing okay. We had the life scared out of us a couple of weeks ago when mom's oncologist told us that it was possible the cancer had spread and could have gotten into her blood stream. :cry: Of course, we had to wait over a week to hear the GOOD NEWS! The tumor was bigger than expected but it was still contained. There was nothing in her blood stream, her liver, lungs, everything looked clear.

They say I owe them for a stereo that was bought in 1999. I had already spoke them one time telling that could not be.My mom house burnt down in April that was the month the item was purchased. I was living with her.Even if that didn't happen I had a new stereo that I bought from Wal-Mart so why would I buy do to both situations. I had no place to put it.
