I see how much help everyone has been to each other here so I figured I would gie this a shot. I am about to start the process of buying a house. In preperation, I ran credit report to try and clear up any problems before I let lenders check it. I found two strange problems that I could use some help with. First, my score says that "the proportion of balances to credit limits on your revolving accounts is too high." Upon closer inspection to the report though, a new credit card that I opened up that has a max of 12k, is reporting a max of $0.

I am considering a debt settlement program with a company called Superior Debt Services. Anyone worked with them? Has anyone out there finished a debt settlment program? How did it go? Did it live up to the promises the counselor made? He claims that I be out of debt ($30K) in 12 to 24 months by paying $700 a month. That's almost 300 less than I pay now and I certainly won't be out of debt in two years at my current rates. I'm not quite desperate yet, but my situation is starting to look bleak unless I do something to change it. Any info would be appreciated. :?:

Based on the posts I've seen in here, I've decided to keep paying my problem creditor even though they have sent me to a collection lawyer. My last payment was 5/11/06 and they keep accepting payment so I don't see why I can't still pay them. BTW, I've been paying them every month for years with no default that I can remember. How does that help or hurt me. I'm looking for Gretchin or Ari on this one since they seem to really know the consequences. Thanks, Lambi

Like so many folks who come through here, i'm exhausted AND confused. I have about 48k in debt, though almost half is fed student loans I'm not worried about. It's the 8k of unsecured loans and credit cards that are stringing me out right now. I'm probably spent HALF of the debt I'm carrying right now. I almost got trapped in payday loans, but got out relatively unscathed, just a bit poorer. I went for credit counseling through one of the non-profs that you pay a fee monthly for paying all your bills; they weren't able to really negotiate anything down.

I faxed several letter to my payday loan companies this morning. My state prohibits usurious loans. I used the Polly blog lettet. I already received an email from one of my loaners stating my loan is now paid in full and forgiven! Please keep in mind when you read this. I have paid so much into my loan that it was paid over twice if not more. Some I requested a refund......more details to follow
