Hi skiposp Contact the credit company with whom you have this account. Check your credit report and have all the details related to it. Let your creditor know that you wish to pay off the account and want to arrange a payment plan with them. Offer them a realistic payment that you can afford to pay. If you are regular with your payments, they will be offering you some benefits in between which might lower your debt amount. If you wish to do this with the help of the debt management program, one of the consultants will be calling you shortly for a free discussion.

1099c

Hello, I have a question, please. If a collection agency issues a 1099c, will the amount of the forgiven debt be the original amount of debt, before all the late fees and interest were added? Or, will the amount listed as forgiven debt ,include fees and interest? Example: If the credit card balace was 3000 at the time of the last payment, and 4 years later the balance has fees and interest added, making the new balance be 5000....which dollar number is listed on the 1099c?

United Legal (paychecktoday)

Got a call from them, they added an extra $150 to my loan... T&C said an extra $60 a month is what they want from me, and they will accept the proposals. I told united to send me a validation of debt and I want to see where they are coming up with this. T&C says if they are a legal firm they will add additional costs. I don't believe that they are. Here we go folks....I'm not putting up with this "additional fees" crap. Not today!

Old Debt/Judgements/Bankruptcy

If an old debt is near the SOL,is it likely that the new owner, a collection agency, will sue for the debt? The sol is Sept 2006 and the amount is $10,000, because they added $4000 in fees and interest. If the collection agency sues and get a judgement and you have no job, they can't garnish your wages. However, if you find employment, can they garnish your wages, then? If you can't afford to pay the judgement, can it be bankrupted, if you qualify for bankruptcy?

I have like $7,000 in debt, and like a month ago I got a letter from J.A. Cambece Law firm saying that they represented CACH.LLC and that they were collecting the debt. I called them right away and only got voice mail. Like 2 weeks after that I got another letter saying that their client had agreed to do payment arrangements , to contact them. I call them that day and I spoke with someone at the office. They passed me to like 3 different persons.
