I was sent a letter from a collection agency and i need information on how much money i owe

I received monies from platinum B services on January 8th of this year my expected debit was 200.00 payment back to this company was supposed to be 260.00.260.00 was supposed to be debited from my account 1/13/06 . Unfortunately I did not have enough monies to repay in time. I have tried to contact someone in customer service letting them know of when I would be pay which would have been on the 31st of january. Instead someone "foreign" has been calling my phone threatning to send my case to the state attornies office if 555.00 isn't paid I can see now I will have to find a lawyer.

I have a few accounts that are "charged off" and I regret to say that I don't have a clue what this really means. These were joint accounts with my ex boyfriend that I never even used...sucks to be me :( Can somebody please explain what that means and how it affects the order in which I pay items off (what I mean is, are these charged off accounts a more pressing matter than my medical bills which I can afford to pay right now?) I just got off the phon with First American Credco. I have an account that is about to drop off in May due to it being 7 years. Now a collection acency purchased it and CREDCO tells me that the statue of limitaiton now is 7 years plus 180 days from the time it goes into collections. The original account will drop off but noe I have the collections on for anothe year and a half. Is this true???? It does not seem fair.

What are my rights reguarding law offices and debt colletion. They want the payment in full and I am not prepared to pay that.
