I quit paying on an account and sent them aletter that I am 75yrs old and could not continue to pay due to por health and that I receive in home support services since I am very low income and cannot afford a nursing home. Their attorney has filed a law suit against me. I am not able to go to the court and have decided to start paying them again as they have lowered the interest to 0 which they would not do before. If I pay the missed 3 mos of payments will that top the lawsuit?

After much soul searching I have finally dedided to sign up with a Consolidation Company. I went with Care One ( they seemed to have the best record). I did try to contact the company and they would not budge. I'm waiting for the welcome package. They have advised me not to answer calls . My mail worry is that they will file suit against me and garnish my wages. Is there anyone out there that has gone thru this process and it actually turned out ok. thanks for your input I really appriciate it. Kathy

 

Jefferson Capital Used Credit Card in My Name without my permission...

I obtained my credit report and reviewed it and discovered in the record a credit card I did not request, or use, taken out in my name by Jefferson Capital. This card had many, many, many, charges posted on it which were paid when due. This card was active from June 1999 to January 2011. I never knew about it and though I can't see that any damage was done, I want to know WHY they used this card in MY NAME and WHAT value this use had for them? They NEVER contacted me... The credit limit on the card was $1650. and the top charge made to the card was $650.

My father has a government postal pension and is 70 years old, he is about to start receiving SSecurity. He is 40K in credit card debt and is renting a house (my brother owns) in RI. Dad has a Maine camp that I want to take over the mortgage for. I am eligible to take over the mortgage for the Maine camp worth 200K. The mortgage is 167K. Will the Bankruptcy trustees go after the Maine Camp if I take over the mortgage (no sale or capital gain for my father) at 167K? or will they seek the equity to repay his debt? I have been paying the mortgage since last Aug. Thanks, Tom
