i have been out of school for about 7 years and i am a single parent i can barely afford food and rent so how will i ever be able to repay this student loan. i have not even started to repay and the interest has more than doubled the loan.
:!: Perhaps if some very young person can read this, they may avoid the mistakes that I have made. It's funny because my mother was always very good with money management and she is still trying to help me learn. I come from a not-so-rich background. I enjoyed the simple life, but after high school I attended Pepperdine University, which is a very prestigious school as well as very wealthy. Needless to say mostly wealthy students attended. I tried so hard to fit in with that lifestyle, and would charge everything to my credit cards.
I was contacted by a collection agency about an "unknown debt" that they say occured more than 20 years ago. This debt has never appeared on any of my credit reports to date. Nor, do I rememeber back 20 years ago about this credit card debt/default. They are requesting that I pay $2,000+ amount, and an add'l $4600 interest, totaling close to $7000. They will not give me any information regarding this proposed crdeit card, only that it initiated with an account First Omni.
I was wondering if you can consolidate payday loans after they have been sent to a collection agency. I spoke with several consolidation companies and all of them said that payday loan companies would not accept payments. However, now that my loans have been turned over to a colelction agency if I could now get on a consolidation program. Thanks!
