I think that this forum is a great idea and that the information provided is very helpful, but many of the responses that I read all have the same information and no detailed answers. i am considering enrolling in this program and have spoken with a counselor and I can't get a straight answer on how this process will effect my credit or my relationship with other creditors in the future. By enrolling in this program what will happen to my credit and how long will it be effected for? My program is for 20 months.

Recently I contacted an agency regarding debt consolidation. They set up a payment plan and sent autorization papers for the first payment to be automatically withdrawn from my checking account. In reading the contract, I noticed that it stipulated that the entire first payment was to be a "deposit" paid to the agency (and refundable upon completion of the contract.) However, this means that my creditors won't receive payment for one more month. The agency informed me that credit card companies require this "deposit", and once it's made, will stop calling.

The three major credit reporting agencies show that I have a Charge Account with WFNNB/American #3002365025. I have no knowledge of this account. Please advise on how I can cancel this account and remove this from my report.

My creditor has asigned a legal office to collect. Can your company also help me with this?
