Several months ago, I started the long process through my state's legal aid to file bankruptcy right around the time I was served and I failed to provide an answer for the case because my intention was/is to file bankruptcy. Last week, I called and left several messages at the legal aid office because I had submitted my bankruptcy packet about a month ago and knew that my debt case now had a court date specified.

I had a credit card debt that an attorney got a judgement against me. They contacted my bank and were able to seize whatever I had in my checking account. This did not cover the debt. My parents have a safe deposit box in the same bank. Many years ago they put my name on the box as a convenience in the event they couldn't go to the bank since they are both senior citizens. The bank just sent me and my parents a letter that they have restricted the box and plan to turn it over to the collector that is after me. Can they do this?

Has anyone actually sued a Payday Loan company for an illegal loan? If so what was the outcome? Has anyone threatened, but not actually sued, an illegal payday loan company with legal action to receive a refund?

I received a call from S & S recovery regarding a payday loan from 2 years ago (Pack Management). This was paid in full, and I told the CA that, and they asked my if I would be able to prove that I paid it. Don't they have to prove that I owe it first? Actually, I believe that Pack Management ended up being illegal. (I live in Illinois) I am questioning the CA being legit, as they call from different numbers. how long will it take for a low credit score to change when it's affected by a closing of a credit card, a month? year? i had made a loan to pay off a high interest card, without the intention of closing it, but the bank did closed it.
