Restricted bank account!
Date: Sat, 09/19/2009 - 15:58
I went to my bank today (Chase) I asked the manager if a hard block/deposit only can be put on my account... he stated that they don't have such thing... he stated that he can will but a restriction on my account... meaning that it will be open for 30 days and after the 30 my account will be closed! He stated that if something goes through it will be returned!
My question is: will this stop all of my payday loans checks/ach debits from going through ? ? ? I just defaulted on all of my loans today, I decided to file for bankruptcy at the end of November... I just can't afford to pay this companies (i don't know how I got myself involved in this mess, I'm so depressed).
I lived in Ohio and all of my lenders are legal!
Thank you for your answers!

If all your lenders are legal then write them all a letter and revoke their rights to debit your account for any reason, per the EFTA law. Send it certified return receipt requested, take a copy to the bank and show it to the branch manager. You might also want to place a stop payment on those checks also.

It might not hurt to send it the corporate office and the location where you got the loan. Reason I say this is because when I was dealing with a legal store front, I was getting calls from the corporate office and the actual location I got the loan. They apparently didn't communicate with each other well. I sent a letter revoking my authorization to the store location and the corporate office was not aware of it.
