hello i would like to know first if anyone has heard of this group who bought up an old account of mine that was in 2002. it was for Spiegel and i received this letter offering a settlement of 292 instead of 730.00 but because i am disabled and on social security andcant pay the settlement offer which i would like to, they will apply any and all payments to the original balance. can anyone tell me why they offer a settlement and then when you cant afford it they go back to the original debt? they immediately take it as an issue of refusal to pay. what does a person do in my situation? who do i calland what do i do besides panic!!!!! please any and all replies accepted.... thank you kindly....
I couldn't find much on them, I only found one law firm in Illin
I couldn't find much on them, I only found one law firm in Illinois and they look like a joke.
First off, what state are you in? When was the last time a payment was made?
Don't panic. have you gotten anything in the mail from them? They cannot touch your Social Security even if they sue you and win. They can go after assets such as a car though if it is not exempt. So it is pretty much a loss if they try to sue you.
Don't agree to pay a thing and do not talk to them anymore until we figure this out.
