If you feel that you are being harassed by any of these collection companies, i suggest that you fight back by this method. Go into any magazine store and take out the subscription mail-in forms that are loose in the magazine and fill it out with their address. Mail it in--these are postage paid forms. These magazines will start flooding the agencies and then they get the bills. This will cause all kinds of their time that they would be using to call you. It really isn't a loss to the magazine makers because it gets more of their magazines into the public reading groups, helping their advertisers. This is a win/win program, except for the collection agency.

Yeah the collectors probably wouldn't even know that happened, unless they heard about it in passing. And it definitely wouldn't take time away from their calls.

To jaqueline - I've done that before. Also any time I get those pre-approved credit card applications, I write void/declined all over it, and send it back in with other junk mail I have laying around. Last year WAMU literally send me 43 preapproval letters within 4 months (I counted), and I sent them all back in like that.
